Implement Teaching Innovation and enhance teaching Quality

1. Deepen the multiple Professional Learning Communities

There are several Professional Learning Communities grouping by teachers of each department including Acrobatics, Theater of art, Traditional Music and Peking opera, Hakka, and Taiwanese Folk opera. Besides, the Academic Affairs held the cross-disciplinary Initial seminar and the final seminar for all teachers from every department. In order to connect the practical experience between the school and performing art industry, Research and Development Division held the conference and speech. Also, there are 12 teachers applied the “Innovation Teaching program”. Traditional teachers create new methods to help students learning better.

B. Innovative Professional Curriculum

       In order to build up the students' abilities, there are three parts in the curriculum, includes Construct students' basic literacy, Innovative Professional Curriculum, and encouraging the innovation teaching plan.

To construct students' basic literacy, the center of General Education offers programming language class, English, and Chinese competence class. Also each department invites the Master for traditional performing art, theater art to provide practice experience and also provide the idea of starting a business. The General Education also offers the class about how to be a star by self-media.

The Academic office also set up the policy to encourage teachers for lesson plan innovation. For example, the Acoustics of traditional musical instruments, the professor brought students to make their own instruments by finding the materials, understand how to make the instrument and final perform by the self-made instruments

Strengthen practical cooperation between Industry and Academia

Each semester, the different department held the Performing Arts Specialization class invites the Masters or Actors of Peking opera, Taiwanese opera, Hakka opera, theater art, and Acrobatics to provide special stills lessons, such as singing and hanging voice class, the action in each role, stage lighting, and stage design, and body movement. The class will be design by the teachers and the artist. Also, the practical class will be developing by the professional group and the department. There are 7 classes below; the total number of the class students is 236. The percentage is 41.55%. (236/568)

Develop school characteristics

In 2021, there are 6 creative performances and 5 Industry-University Co-creation performances in Develop innovative exhibition concepts section. Reshape the classic value of the local culture part, there are total of 2 books published to Preserving performing arts culture.

Improve the publicity of higher education

First, setting up the website for providing the campus information help students ‘parents and the public understand the effectiveness of running a school. In order to provide disadvantaged students a better learning environment, there are several strategies to help them. Such as provide learning scholarship, book purchase Subsidy, and also License examination subsidy. There are 342 students in-time who get a subsidy of disadvantaged students.

Fulfill social responsibility

In order to fulfill social responsivities, we focus on Art Community building and Collaborative teaching of arts courses. In Communities and building part, there are about 935 person-times to serve 10 sessions. Not only providing traditional opera performance but also providing the art interactive class.

Start from 2020, we build up Lakes and Hills Arts Festival 2021. There are two seasons, spring and autumn. In May, the COVID 19 is getting serious, so most of the shows were cancelled. Only “A Midsummer Night's Dream”, “Shiro visits his mother” and “Black Comedy” played in Spring Season, there are 1309 people attend the performance. In autumn, there are 9 shows including cooperating with Trend Micro company.  “Legends of the East - Monkey King” played to a full house. Total participants are 8039 person-times joined the traditional art experience courses.
